U.S. park operators Cedar Fair and Six Flags Entertainment formalize merger agreement

 

On Nov. 2, U.S. park operators Cedar Fair and Six Flags Entertainment agreed to a merger deal valued at $8 billion for a new company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. The new company, which will operate under the Six Flags name, will jointly own 15 water parks and 27 theme parks in North America. Richard Zimmerman, president and CEO of Cedar Fair Amusement Parks, will continue in the same role in the new company, while Selim Bassoul, president and CEO of Six Flags, will become an executive director of the new company, it was announced.
